Rona Manosevich-Barda is a historian and educator. She discusses education from a historical and social point of view through an integrated examination of educational ideology, policy, and implementation. Her research discusses the development of the value of excellence during the state period, as a tool for analyzing trends and changes in Israeli society and as a guiding tool for shaping education policy. She holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in the history of education track at the Tel Aviv university's School of Education. Her doctoral thesis, titled "With the Brain's Power: Education for Excellence in Israel in the First Two Decades of its Existence (1948-1968), was Written under the supervision of prof. Avner Ben-Amos. A book based on the doctoral dissertation is expected to be published soon by 'Dor l'Dor' Publishing of Tel Aviv University's School of Education. The manuscript was supported by the Dushkin Foundation. She is currently investigating the influence of American Jewry on the collective construction of the figure of the Intellectual-Sabra in the 1950s and 1960s. She also specializes in curriculum and development, teacher training and Instruction for gifted and excellent students.
