Ayana Sassoon is a PhD and a research fellow at the Institution for Contemporary Jewry. She is a Mosse fellow and currently (2024) in exchange at the University of Madison, Wisconsin. She earned her BA in Bible and Jewish studies and MA in Jewish History at the Hebrew University, as well as a teachers' certificate. Her MA thesis focuses on the Jewish perspective on the yellow star in the Holocaust. Her PhD project, under the supervision of Prof. Amos Goldberg, is titled: " 'Life Today Revolves Around Food': Food, Eating, Identity and Social Relations among Jews in Germany and the Netherlands during the Holocaust and the Second World War".
