The Israeli Oral History Association (ILOHA) was founded in 2001 and intended to meet the needs of researchers, students, archivists, and members of the general public interested in oral history as a source of information for use in genealogy searches, and authentic raw materials spanning many different fields for research purposes.
The association brings together professionals and experts in the field who use documentation of individuals, groups, and community-social groups.
As a center for Jewish immigration from the diaspora, Israel is an important source for oral history. With the help of testimonies and personal stories, it is possible to preserve Jewish heritage and to reconstruct contemporary Jewish history.
